I read that as ‘and run a bath’ which was Rorschach-test revealing of my current mood! I’m sure I’ll love it, I’m excited! XXX

Hi Sarah, I’ve bought your book on the Amazon offer today - exciting! Just reading this Substack though makes me realise I’m not selling “properly” or getting my message out there enough... I don’t feel like I’m using the right language to excite people about HR 🤣 paying my monthly subscription “just in case” approach isn’t really working so I need to have a bit of a rethink

Ooh very excited for you to read it Katie! I enjoyed our brief chat at Small Bizmas :) do let me know if there’s anything I can help with to get your message working for you once you’ve had a peruse! X

Congratulations on your book! I’ve just purchased and looking forward to diving in 😊 sales has always felt sticky to me - totally my own mental blocks! I struggle to communicate why people really need my services without using fear to pressure people, because I never want that dynamic with my clients. But protection against bad things really *is* the key benefit... it’s a tricky balance!

Thank you love! You’re certainly not on your own there AND the good news is, pressure is in the bin and joyful selling is IN! X

Great advice, thank you! ✨When you say spend up to 30 minutes talking about your solutions, what does this look like? Unsure if this means simply speaking aloud / getting comfortable articulating to ourselves the value we offer or finding ways to talk about this to others?

Expand full comment

Hi Bella - it depends and it could be all 3 of the things you suggest, depending on the goal. The key is to normalise actually talking about what you do, both being clear in your mind and also with others about why it helps. The vast majority of business owners aren’t talking nearly enough about what they can do for people and breaking it down so a decision is activated. By taking small, everyday action that compounds, we can take the pressure off any one endeavour to “make a sale”. Something like 75% of all buyers now look to social media to aid decision making, so the more ease we can create for those people, the more sales result. X

Hello Sara, I’m so grateful to Lucy for recommending you to me. I did my first talking story yesterday for a very long time and got a sale for my business twenty minutes later. Talking more about my product has just clicked in my head. Genius! I have ordered your book from Amazon and am excited to inhale it! Thank you.

HUGE Congratulations Karrie. Talking stories I always think are a great way to connect with our audience but even just sharing posts / text in stories can be great as well. The book has loads of prompts and content ideas which I think you will find super helpful to keep going. Ket me know how you get on. x

This was great, thank you Sara for penning this Substack. I'm totally on board with selling for 30 minutes a day. Making it a habit builds the sales muscle!

Yes Anna! 30 mins a day is all you need 🎉

I've subscribed, Sara and will buy your book! My struggle is that the solution I offer isn't tangible or that easily measured by standard metrics – I help overwhelmed women who always put everyone else first and themselves last to feel calmer, happier and have more time for themselves. Plus, women in this situation often struggle to spend money or time on themselves because they've taken on the belief that's selfish and wrong to do that for themselves.

Expand full comment

Hiya Gabrielle, don’t worry about standard metrics - the solution could be an aspiration or desired outcome they are working towards, too. What do your clients dream of having more of and how does your work help them get it? If it’s time, how specifically do you work to clear the decks? If it’s happiness, what exactly is it that you’re showing them that will unlock this? What helps people say yes is being able to see WHAT and HOW your work takes them somewhere they want to go. The more specific you can be, the better. Hope that helps! X
