Amazing what paying for a subscription does π Iβm now an βexpertβ in a networking group thatβs all my target audience, pitched to speak at their events, said yes to a video interview and Iβve joined Lightbulb.
WOW! What a great start to hyping yourself. Such brilliant news all round. Video interview sounds perfect and I love Lightbulb and I can help you with responses to that!
Thank you for these amazing tips, Lucy! Taking up your double dare to say that I'm also a Lucy, 36, and Founder of Treble & Trumpet. We mix classical music with nursery rhymes to develop little ones' brains and inspire a love of music. As it's Blue Monday, we've just released a classical arrangement of 'I can sing a Rainbow' to encourage people to get singing again (like we do in December with all those carols and feel-good Christmas songs!), which has been proven to release endorphins and make us feel great! It's free on Spotify and all the streaming services, as we believe all parents should have access to high-quality music for their children.
I love this Lucy. How does this work as a business usually is it events? Workshops? I actually think you recycle this for if we have a period of bad weather / lots of rain etc.
I really want to share a press pitch here but my baby brain is making not even know where to start. Not even sure what Iβm trying to promote of myself this year. Itβs all just a whir right now!
β’ I'm a professional photographer turned founder of www.20.photos. My signature product is to select, curate and print your 20 best photos to tell your story from the thousands on your camera reel.
β’ I can talk about use of tech and AI in scaling up a female-founded, creative business and using grant funding to support early growth.
β’ I can give practical advice on how everyone can take great photos and curate and display them.
Well done for the being first to post for feedback. It is so succinct, the line about your business is so clear, I totally understand what you do. I love the blend of business expertise with your specialist subject area.
Small tweak: I would potentially split the tech AI and grant sentence as a separate point.
It is a great intro pitch and could work for something like a female founder podcast or last point for a creative podcast.
Thanks Lucy! If I were pitching for a creative podcast would I drop the AI and grant point and add in another 'creative curation' point? And vice versa for a Female Founder point?
Fab tips, Lucy thank you. I'm a huge fan of Steve Holland and Frankie Tortora Doing it for the kids too - added bonus to the support I get from their communities is they also often make me belly laugh
Hi Lucy, this is the first post of yours that Iβve read and Iβm happy to be following along. Ps, working with Sarah Fay sounds like a good investment, I donβt know if I can be a good student though Iβm so highly opinionated.
Thanks Adam high praise indeed. Re: Sarah, Iβm not going to lie my default setting is to think I know best but then I realise Iβm paying for an expert so I need to at least try the feedback and so far itβs been good growth (me personally and subscribers)
I only found you very recently, Lucy, so I'm new here and loving it already! There are so many juicy tips that I'm going to try out this week - thank you!
Awww Hayley. Very very warm welcome to you. I look forward to seeing you do some of the exercises and getting feedback. Canβt wait to get to know you better.
Me too! Sarah Fay and I have a podcast episode together if you'd like to listen - https://sparkleon.substack.com/podcast - hyping myself there like a good student for her teacher - π€£ β¨ π
Oh, this is such a brilliant idea about recycling, thank you - I always think I have to create new content, but of course it could apply in other contexts! As a business it doesn't generate income as we want the music to be available to all parents for free - to make up for lack of music provision in schools, government arts cuts etc - but if we can spread the word and end up with many daily listeners then we would start to generate some streaming income. And this is why musicians don't make good business people!!!

Maybe this could be a year of just reactive pitching instead. Looking at Journo requests and feeling if that feels good to you?
Double dare you all! Here goes:

Great tips! I love being part of Steve's BR community and Frankie's DIFTK community. The support is amazing, and I've made some great friends!
