Creative prompts to help you Hype Yourself
Hello loves π,
After writing a monthly newsletter for the last four years I am looking to take our relationship to the next level.
You are going to hear from me a bit more regularly as I share lessons on self-promotion and creative living, to help you make an income from your expertise and passion.
This will be a blend of prompts, articles and occasional interviews for my paid-for subscribers more on what you will and wonβt receive further down.
π§ Iβve received over 1,000 responses from creative businesses about what stops them from hyping themselves.
The same things always come up:
Time
Not knowing what to say
Confidence
Imposter syndrome
And one of my creative superpowers is helping people like you with:
Time- Ideas for quick winsNot knowing what to say- Tweaks & suggestions to make a killer pitchConfidence- Handholding you through the processImposter syndrome- Reminding why we need to hear them.
HACK: It can be really helpful to know the language your audience uses when it comes to their challenges.
Then you can ensure your solution - your need to help the world is presented in the language your audience uses.I have used the same wordcloud test on Mentimeter for years to build my data. You can try it for free.

WELCOME TO YOUR FIRST PROMPT
Regional Publications:
What is your local radio station or magazine? They are always looking for light-hearted and quirky local success stories. Study them to see where you can fit.
I want you to think of this beyond publications. Perhaps you can marinade on one of the following local outlets as a way to promote your work:
physical shops - stockist, events, collabs, limited edition,
co-working spaces - lunchtime learning, sampling, events programme
event hubs - key calendar dates, collabs, gifting
local festivals - hosting a stall, old-school leafleting, demo
local people - another local author, artist, or small business owner that you can co-create with
Product businesses - can you sample or showcase your product in a relevant spot locally?
Authors, do you always have a copy of your book on you? I often leave mine in relevant hubs ( How I did this in reel life here).
Service business owners - put yourself where you donβt belong. When Hadrien and I started the branding side of the business, we took out a stand at our favourite magazine live event Courier in the shopper area and offered FREE branding tips and PR advice. It was a great new business driver:
In this weekβs prompt for subscribers, we will also cover the following:
- Examples of different types of regional media coverage
- Alternate ways to promote yourself regionally
- How to find regional journalist contact details
- Ten tips from a former BBC Regional Radio producer
